Marina State Beach Family Session

This Marina State Beach family session is absolutely breathtaking. But before we get to the stunning family photos, I have to share a little more about my California adventure with you!

While in California I spent some time in Monterey and thought it would be fun to go whale watching! Hoping that I had outgrown my sea-sick-issues, I went for it! Well, I am here to tell you folks, I did NOT outgrow it! I managed to get about 1/2 way through the whale watching adventures before I ran to the back of the boat to be sick in private. If you don't know this, you shouldn't go into the bathroom or into small spaces when you have motion sickness. It will make it much worse. Same goes for closing your eyes. The best thing you can do is head to the back of the boat and breathe in as much air as you can while keeping your eyes on the horizon. So, that's what I did. It didn’t help. Sadly, I was sick the last 45 minutes of the outing. I think I managed okay though. On the back of the boat I had my own private whale (and dolphin) watching experience.

I was thankfully able to grab a few amazing photos from the front of the boat at the beginning of the tour, before all the sickness. If you ever have the chance to go, I do recommend it - despite the sea sickness.

So here are a few photos from my fun little adventure and then on to the gorgeous family session!

Later that afternoon I met up with the Mayorga family in Carmel. Have you ever been there? It is amazing. Did you know that Clint Eastwood was once the mayor there? He was. You can google it. Clint Eastwood was the mayor in 1986 and once again in 2001 but enough about Clint... Let's get back to the Mayorga family!

Sam and Alli met several years back in art class at their local community college. While they were traveling through the Scottish Highlands (HELLO OUTLANDER FANS!) they began to date and fall in love. They came back to the states as a 2-some and got engaged a year later. It's been 9 years and they are happily married with a 10 month old cutie named Milo. Now, let me tell you, Milo stole the show. He is SO expressive and such a fun little guy to be around. You can quickly tell that he is the apple of his parent's eye.

We had our session at the Marina State Beach in Marina, California. The sand dunes are magic. Partly covered in dense foliage and other dunes were completely barren. If I closed my eyes, I was sure I was in the desserts of the Middle East or Africa.

I can’t just leave you to look at these amazing photos just yet because I have to talk about some awesome people that helped make these photos happen! This flawless dress was rented from The Wandering Dresses! Makeup Monique Mendoza did an outstanding job on Alli’s makeup. And I can not forget the amazing Cassia Forêt who killed it with the flower bouquet!

That’s it! Now go forth and enjoy this gorgeous session!
