5 Reasons Why You and Your Partner Should Have a First Look
This is a question that every one asks themselves… “should I have a first look”. I’m here to tell you YES and give you five reasons why.
At the end of the day, of course this is all up to you and how you want your day to be. But here are five reasons why you should:
1. Extra time and more intimate
If I’m being truly honest here, your day will fly by. You are constantly moving, the day is flying by and either you’re getting your makeup done, you’re setting up the venue or wherever your ceremony/reception is held. The time you will have with your partner is during your ceremony and reception, and it is shared with your family and friends. While you of course are incredibly grateful that they came to celebrate, sometimes having that time together, just you two, is definitely needed.
2. More time for couple portraits
During your cocktail hour, while your guests are mingling with friends and family, this is the time to squeeze in family photos and your portraits. While of course your portraits will be taken after your ceremony, the whole crew won’t be stressed to go down the list of family members who need photos and to make sure the photographer and videography have their time to grab the photos and videos needed. So, with a first look, you can get a lot of your wedding portraits done, and your cocktail hour should go a lot smoother! And even, join cocktail hour!
3. Relax your wedding day timeline
Yes, you will have a timeline of your day. Whether you have a wedding coordinator, or your photographer plans a rough outline, it’s important to stay on track. With a first look in place, you can create your timeline to be a lot more smooth and relaxed
4. Calm your nerves before the ceremony
Now, sometimes I’m at weddings where the couple isn’t nervous at all, and then I get the couples who are! It is totally TOTALLY normal to have those nerves and gitters, but a first look can ease and calm the nerves. So, if you get nervous in situations where all eyes are on you, you might want to consider it!
5. The perfect time to say your private vows
Some couples prefer to say their vows privately instead of in front of family and friends. If you’re planning on doing private vows, incorporating a first look beforehand makes your photos absolutely beautiful!
