The Funky Loft | Brooklyn
Nothing makes me happier than finding little hidden gems like this! The Funky Loft is located in Brooklyn and is filled with so many interesting spaces and things.
The loft served as an Airbnb as well as a studio space for creatives to rent out by the hour. There were Covid precautions in place and everything felt very safe.
I split the cost of the space with another photographer from upstate New York named Meaghean who owns Vows & Views Photography. She drove down and I flew into JFK. One Uber ride later I arrived at the loft.
It was easy to find and Marcella, the loft owner, left very detailed directions of everything I needed to know and do!
Unfortunately, the loft is now closed. Marcella has moved to California and is searching for her next space. She does plan to reopen her space to creatives and guests once she is settled in.
Our models were Kaitlyn, who does a lot of traveling with me, and Yani who was a local to Brooklyn and joined us for an hour that morning. They were both outstanding models and made the day so much fun for everyone!

Once we were done with our time at the loft we went down by the water into the area commonly referred to as "DUMBO". We grabbed a few shots there with the skyline in the background and I was even able to see lady liberty from there - albeit she was rather small from where I was. Of course it was still nice to see as it was my first time to New York.
We stopped in for Dinner at Cecconis which was by far some of the best Italian food I have had in quite some time. The restaurant had both in and outdoor dining, taking advantage of the amazing views right off the patio. 10 out of 10 I would recommend this place and would absolutely return to again.
The next morning Kaitlyn and I made an early run via Uber back to the airport where we headed home. A quick 48 hours in New York has left me itching to return.
